The BD FACSCanto™ Flow Cytometer System is made for flow cytometry and multicolor analysis. It uses two lasers (blue-488nm, air cooled, 20mW solid state and red-633nm,17mW, He/Ne) capable of six colors which optically illuminate cells in samples then collect the results with spectral detectors. The lasers are attached to the chassis thus eliminating the need for alignment. Lens and optics are used to focus the laser light into a gel-coupled cuvette flow cell. The emission signals are then transmitted from the flow cell to the detector arrays; an octogon for the blue laser and trigon for the red. The octogon contains 5 PMTs to detect the light from the blue laser collecting side-scatter signals. The trigons contain 3 PMTs which detect the light from the red laser. A separate fluidics cart sends the sample up the sample injection tube, and hydrodynamic focusing within the flow cell forces particles into a single file stream where the laser light interrupts the stream at a single focused point. This unique flow cell design permits particles to flow through the center of the cell. Increasing sample pressure raises the core diameter to raise the flow rate.
We have only one complete unit. One is also available for parts and we have two complete fluidics carts. We do not have the computer or the software for this unit and that is not provided. It can be obtained from BD or hopefully your lab already uses these and has it available.
Missing parts not provided are the rotors for the loader, the waste and reagent bottles for the fluidics carts, tubing, cables for the computer. Other than that this is a complete unit. Instrument hours are around 48000 and it has been decontaminated. The unit runs on 100/115/230VAC, 50/60Hz, and with the fluidics cart run about 500W. Therefore a special AC hookup is recommended. DOM is June 2005 in the USA. Software recommended (available through BD) is the FACSDiva ver 6.1.2.
Due to our lack of the software we are selling this at a bargain price. With software I’ve seen these as low as 20k and as high as 30k for a working unit. We do offer a 90-day return policy if the buyer decides this is not what they want but the buyer pays return shipping.
Due to the size and weight of this unit it will have to be freighted and crated. Crating is available through CSI for an extra charge of $350. Contact us for a quote on shipping and crating. If your lab is in the California area we can deliver in our company truck for a fee without the need for crating.
